Chitra Santhe Exhibition 2025

 Hi friends ,

Chitra Santhe 2025

Chitra Santhe 2025

I got a wonderful opportunity to exhibit my Quilling dolls at Chitra Santhe 2025 exhibition.  When I got the confirmation about my selection at Chitra Santhe , I was overjoyed and excited. I had started to prepare for it around  2 months back. This time I had made many variety of art items and dolls.

Once you know for sure that you are displaying your dolls at the exhibition , the preparation takes a different turn and enthusiasm . You have to finalize what all you are planning to display and sell. When i had exhibited my quilling art in 2023 , I had noticed that many people were interested in buying small items like keychains , earrings , envelopes and small dolls. So I thought to focus more on that. Lot of people were keen on buying yoga dolls so i had a plan of including it. I made six different pose yoga dolls .  I had made some quilling boxes which I had decided to display at the exhibition.

Some new addition of dolls were :

  • Sankranti doll set
  • Band set dolls
  • Mom Daughter dolls
  • Valentine dolls
  • Community helpers dolls
  • Fashion girls dolls
  • Traditional doll set
I also made some quilling magnets( 12 )  and some new design envelopes. This time I had quite a good variety of my art works. Some Mandala Painted Mdf boards were also ready to be exhibited.
Since I had some time , I made some quilling warli jhumkas and some mdf painted earrings. By Jan 1st I was ready with all the items . Only Packing was left. I made a list of the items to be displayed so that no item gets missed . I had one clear thought in my mind that whatever items i am displaying will be for sale. I had extra stock of some items as well. I finalized the price of my art works discussing with my husband and daughter.
I packed all the dolls , art frames , boxes etc waiting eagerly for the big day ( 5th Jan ). I was supposed to go to the venue on 4th Jan to see my stall . Post lunch i went with my husband to Chitra Kala Parishat . After collecting my badge , we went in search of my stall . After searching for almost 2 hours , we finally found the place. A big relief .... I made a rough idea about arranging the dolls. This time I had planned to arrange all my dolls on the table because it wont be visible properly on the ground. They had given  a small table. So i had to take another table from home. After returning home , I packed everything and all set.

On 5th Jan ( Exhibition day ) , We left for the event around 6:30 A M . After reaching the venue, I unpacked my dolls and other items for arranging. Me and my husband did a few trial and error for arranging everything in proper order. My table was looking so colourful and unique with dolls arranged beautifully. Most of the stalls around me were different forms of paintings. The crowd started gather around 11 . Initially some people visited my stall for curiosity about my items. They started enquiring about the items displayed . There was not much of a buying crowd. Slowly people started to visit . Some of my magnets, boxes and key chains were sold . Many people were not aware of Quilling art . I had displayed some quilling strips and needle. I explained to many people about  quilling . Many people appreciated my work which made me very very happy. They were surprized to see the 3D dolls made using quilling. Some quilling artists also visited my stall and were enquiring a lot. They also took some pictures of my dolls.
Post lunch the crowd was full and i could sell many items . My Yoga dolls were very much appreciated. A Yoga teacher also bought my Yoga doll.  I also took some pics with some people who visited my stall. The day was full of fun. Few people from CKP also came and took the pics of my stall. The quilling Ganeshas which i had made only a  few were all sold out. I also got an idea what the Gen Z likes which can be included for my next  event. I had displayed some sports dolls which included cricket , boxing , karate , hockey . Some people asked for archery and badminton . So i planned to make it next time.

By evening I was full tired and exhausted. So we thought to wind up everything and leave. It was a satisfying and fun filled day 😊. I would like to thank all my family members for their wonderful support and help. Thank you 🙏😊  .

When I saw the fabric dolls , I was tempted to make one . I saw the post about fabric doll workhop on facebook . I contacted Mrs Vidhya for further details. She taught me from the basics of fabric doll and how to create it. I learnt a lot during the workshop. Thanks  a lot Vidhya ❤️ for teaching me this wonderful art 👌 .

The fabric doll is very different form Quilling doll . Here the face is readymade. And the body you need to stitch using cloth. All the parts of the doll has to be stitched to one another and to give strength to the doll you have to used wire. You can decorate the doll as per your wish using necklace , kundans , mirrors etc.. Very excited to make another doll .

Idol of Sri Rama in Quilling- Jai Shree Ram

 Hi friends,

Let's seek Sri Rama's blessings. I feel so blessed to complete the Idol of Sri Rama.

Jai Shri Ram

It was a great feeling to make this happen. I studied in depth many images of Lord Sri Ram to choose on body colour, facial attributes, including his bow (Kodanda), Finally I was able to visualize the image in my mind and based on that I ordered the quilling strips of various sizes & colours.

I started making the face of the idol first as it was most difficult and time consuming, including hairs from the quilling strips, next I designed the crown of the lord and attached it to the face. The middle torso and the legs, hands, lastly added the palms and foot of the lord.

It took really good time to design the Bow (Kodanda) when decided to use only quilling strips yet make it sturdy finally I was able to get the right shape and strength, followed by Quiver and arrows.

Finally I made the garland for the Lord. Drawing the facial features was a challenging part.
