Makar Sankranti Special

 Hi Everyone,

          Wish you all a very  Happy Makar Sankranti . I have tried to make  a Sankranti Festival set up in Quilling . I hope you all will like it. 

To make the quilling lady , you can refer to my earlier posts. She is wearing a blue saree with yellow blouse. I have made the lady holding a pooja thali for offering pooja to the sacred cow. 

I have taken some pictures of the making of quilling cow. Let me share them:

I have used white colour Quilling strips for the cow. You need 5 mm and 10 mm strips . 

Face and body :

• For the face make a tight coil using 12 quilling strip ( 5 mm ). Use 2 black and 10 white strips. Make a cone shape. Make another tight coil of same size. Use only white colour. Make a small dome shape. Attach both the coils.
• For the body make 6 tight coils. Each coil is made using 20 strips. I have used 10 mm and 5 mm strips. Make a dome shape for two coils as shown. attach all the coils.
• Attach the face with the body.
  
  
  
  

Legs :

• Each leg has two parts. One is a cone using 3 strips of 5 mm . Another is a cone using 2 strips of 10mm. Attach both the cones as shown. 
• For the back legs , you need to make two cones of 3 strips each ( 5 mm ). apply fevicol . allow it to dry. then cut the cones in the middle and join them. Another is a cone using 2 strips of 10 mm . 
• Attach the legs to the body.

 Once done, you can decorate the cow as per your choice.

Quilling Hanuman Idol

Quilling Hanuman Idol

This is one of my best creation in Quilling - Quilling Hanuman . It was a challenge to make the Hanuman Face specially the mouth. I am very happy with the final outcome. 

Actually this is a gift to my husband. Initially I was not confident of doing this idol. But as my work progressed , I started gaining confidence to complete it. It took almost 15 days to complete. 

I have captured few pictures while making this beautiful idol. Let me share them. 

Face :

• Make a tight coil using 10 quilling strips ( peach colour ). I have used 5 mm strips. Make a dome shape.
• Make a similar coil using black colour quilling strips. 
• Attach both the coils.

Body :

• Make an open coil using 20 quilling strips. Make 5 such coils.
• Make a dome shape for the top and bottom coils. 
• Attach all the coils. 
• Wrap skin colour for all the coils.

Legs :

• Each leg has two parts. Make the first cone using 4 quilling strips. Make the second cone using 3 quilling strips. Use peach colour strip. Refer to the picture.
• After making the cones , attach them . Then wrap a red colour strip around the big cone as shown.

The other leg is in straight position. 


For making the crown ,  hands , palm and feet you can Refer here .

Attach all the body parts. Put some ornaments for the idol for decoration. Make the costume for the idol. 

Now comes the most toughest and challenging part - the mouth. I have used a different shade of peach colour for the mouth. 

For the nose make a small cone using half strip ( 3 mm ). apply fevicol. Once dried cut it vertically and stick. 

For the mouth , make  an oval coil and push it outwards and stick. 

My daughters helped me in making the eyes and mouth of the idol. Thanks to them 💖💖.
