Quilling Kathakali |
Kathakali is a major form of classical Indian dance popular in southwestern region of Kerala. This is one more addition to my Dances of India Theme. It is a Quilling Kathakali 3D doll. The most challenging part was the costume of the doll. The lower part is quite big and you need to roll lot of strips for that.
For the major structure of the doll , you can refer to my earlier posts. Let me brief some of the steps:
1. Face:
- Since the Kathakali Face is green in colour , I have tried to do it in the same way.
- Make a tight coil using 12 quilling strips ( green colour ). Use 5 mm quilling strips.
- For the upper part make a tight coil using 14 strips( peach colour ) . I have used 20 mm quilling strips. I have wrapped red colour quilling strips around the upper body part.
- For the lower part , make a tight coil using 70 quilling strips ( white colour ). Use 5 mm strips. Make a big dome shape as shown.
- Attach the upper and lower parts.
