Quilling greeting card

                    Thinking of where , what type of card to buy for your loved ones , think again!! these cards are not just expensive, but they don't have your personal touch . Now you can make your own handmade lovely quilling greeting card which will make your loved ones very happy.  This card is very easy to make and looks very beautiful. A handmade card is more precious than a gift. This elegant and simple quilling card is sure to put a smile on the receiver's face. A handmade quilling greeting card can be made for any occasion like birthdays, anniversaries, festivals etc. You can use your own designs and imagination. For greeting cards the quilling patterns are versatile.. You can create a variety of designs like flowers , leaves, fringed flowers , snowflakes etc.

Quilling birthday card

For this greeting card I have taken beautiful colorful flowers  as my theme.

The materials required are:

• Card paper / KG cardboard 
• Quilling strips ( 3 mm - different colors )
• Quilling needle
• Fevicol

First, I will teach you how to make the leaves :

• Take a 3 mm quilling strip of green color.
•  Create a tight coil, do not glue it, lay it on a flat surface and let it expand. 
• Pinch the coil using your thumb and index finger forming a shape with a point at both the ends. ( refer to picture below) slightly to give it a curve . 
• Then glue it. 

Quilling leaf

Your leaf is ready. Make as many leaves you want for your card.  

For making the spiral leaf ,  take a 3 mm quilling strip, roll it  half and leave it loose. This will form a spiral shape ( refer to picture ).

To make flowers,  I have used 3mm quilling strips of different colors

These are the types of flowers used :

Tear drop shape(click to enlarge)

• Tear drop - make a tight coil, leave it loose ,  pinch the coil using your thumb and index              finger forming a shape with a point at one end  and leaving other . Make 5 to 6 of this                shape to form a flower.

• Petal - make a tear drop, then gently press the pointed end to one side to give it a curved shape.

• Marquise -  make a coil , leave it loose , then pinch both the ends with a point at both the ends to give it an eye shape. Make 5 to 6 to form a flower.

• Heart shape - make a tear drop , press in between the round shape to get a heart shape. Make 5 to 6 of this shape.

  Half moon (Click to enlarge)

• Half moon -  pinch both the ends of a coil to make a half moon shape. These also you can make 5 to 6 to form  a flower.

You can make any desired shape of your choice to form the petals of the flower. Once the flowers and leaves are made , stick them on a card paper / KG cardboard in a beautiful pattern.

You can also write your message using quilled paper.

By making a marvellous heart flower , you can make your dearest sweetheart's heart melt with this card. In this section I am making  fringed flowers. Fringed flowers are the most popular quilled flowers and easy to make.

Materials required:

• Card paper
• Quilling needle
• Quilling strips ( 5 mm )
• Fevicol
• White pearl 

        Take a card paper and draw a heart shape with a pencil . 

• Take a 5 mm red color quilting strip.
• Uses scissors to fringe the strip all the way to the quilling strip , but be careful not to cut the quilling strip.( refer to picture )

• Start rolling the quilling strip. Make sure that when you roll the strip , the fringed part is on the upper part of the quilling strip. Continue rolling the whole strip. Once finished , put a bit if glue at the end of the strip and allow it to dry. ( Refer to picture )

• Use your fingers to carefully peel the fringe down and away from the center.Use your thumb to squash it all the way down.

Final Fringed Flower

Make as many fringed flowers as you want and stick it on the heart shape.

 If you want you can stick a pearl / bead in the center of the flower as shown in the picture. 

Your greeting card is ready !
