Quilling envelopes series 1

Hello  friends,

This is a new addition to my quilling collection. I have made some creative quilling designs on the envelope. You need to take a plain envelope . You can create your own designs to make it look more attractive. These 6 envelopes , I have used flowers as my theme. Different quilling flowers are made to decorate the envelope. All flowers are made using 3 mm quilling strips.

Let me show you each design in detail:

  • Design 1 :

I have made two flowers. Make 5 tight coils using 1 strip each . Arrange the tight coils to form a flower. Make two such flowers. Make the bushes using green clour quilling strips.
  • Design 2 :

Make a marquise shape using yellow colour quilling strip. Make 5 such shapes to complete the flower. Make the leaves as shown in the picture. You can use your own colour combination.

  • Design 3 :
Make 4 comb flowers using a combination of two colors (  Red and white ) . You can use any colour of your choice. Also make some leaves using green colour strips.

  • Design 4 :
Make the quilling flower using tear drop shape. I have used pink colour quilling strips. Make three flowers and decorate it . Give a finishing by making some leaves. I have put this design on the border. The center of the flower can be given using yellow colour.
  • Design 5 :
To make this type of flower , click here . I have used a combination of blue and yellow. You can choose your own combination. Make the leaves and stem using green colour strips.

  • Design 6 :

Take a light pink colour quilling strip and make a heart shape. Make 5 such shapes to make the flower. Make a yellow tight coil using half strip for the center of the flower.

Quilling with resin designs

Hello friends,

Let me show you something very beautiful which i enjoyed doing it.
For details on resin and its mixing method  refer here.

I have made two quilling  designs .

  • For the first one , I have used 3 mm quilling strips. I have made an open heart shape using three strips ( pink colour ). Apply fevicol and allow it to dry. Make a few marquise shapes using one quilling strip( blue colour ).Select a mould ( I have taken a box cap ) which fits your quilling design. Once the resin mixture is ready , pour a thin layer of it into the mold. Then put the quilling design. Fill the mold with resin completely. Allow it to dry for 24 hours. I have used dark blue colour for the heart design resin.

  • For the second one also I have used 3 mm quilling strips. I have made a flower with leaves. Here I have used yellow colour quilling strips. Make 10 tight coils each using one quilling strip. Make a single tight coil ( Brown colour ) using one quilling strip for the center of the flower. For the leaves make three to four marquise shapes using one quilling strip each. Take the mould and stick the coils ( flower and leaves ) as shown in the above picture. Pour resin and allow it to dry for 24 hours. I have used light blue colour for the flower design resin.

Use you creation and make your own designs

Quilling with resin series

Resin Keychains

Hello friends,

Epoxy Resin is a solid or highly viscous substance of plant or synthetic origin that is typically convertible into polymers. Resins are usually mixtures of organic compounds.

The Resin contains resin and hardener which needs to be mixed as per the prescribed ratio (for the epoxy resin I have used it is 3:1 ration for resin to hardener), the casting is done from a mold of desired shape mostly made from silica , the mold is is filled with a epoxy resin mixed  and has to be left untouched , over the next 24 hours which then hardens (based on the type of resin purchase )

Epoxy Resin can be used for various art works like key chains , wall hangings , fridge magnets etc.
I have made couple of key chains to show in this blog , I got the mold and resin from Amazon before beginning this exercise .

The First step would be to make the quilling art of your choice , ensure that the art work fits into the mold easily and is not above the mold , for the current key chains I have used 3mm and 5mm quilling strips ..  I decided to go with a flower , heart and leaf for my first set of key chains .

The epoxy resin I used is by default  colorless and is crystal clear (based on type of epoxy resin you buy ) , so I have used sand color for the heart key chain and light blue for flower (again don't use any color which doesn't gel with the resin it might result in you getting stick resin work )

I have made a unique art work with a combination of quilling and resin. You can create you own quilling designs , put them into a mold and fill it with epoxy resin. Allow it to harden and your beautiful art work is ready. You can either make cryrstal clear or colorful transparent key chains of your choice .

Hope you all liked it.

    Quilling Goddess Saraswati

    Hello  Friends,

Goddess Saraswati  is one of the Hindu goddesses, she is the custodian of knowledge and wisdom and is worshiped by all students across age  for her divine grace so that acquires knowledge, music, art and wisdom. She is the consortium of Lord Brahma , the creator of the universe. During Navarathri , on the fifth day ,a special pooja is performed for the goddess Saraswati. In homes on this day we worship all the artifacts / sources of knowledge as they represent the goddess .

I have crafted the Goddess Saraswati using quilling .

To start with ,make a rough outline or take a print out of the Goddess. The whole picture is crafted using 3mm quilling strips . Goddess Saraswathi is mainly associated with white color for her dress, vehicle (swan/hamsa), seat (lotus) as the white color signifies purity and knowledge.

    • Make an outline of the desired shape by placing the quilling strip vertically along the border/outline of the drawing
    • For crafting the lotus petals . use  3mm white strips and make a loose coil .Press the coil to fill in the shape of the petals of the lotus.
    • For the crown , decorate using pearl and stone lines ( red , green , white ).
    • Design the saree using white colour quilling strips. I have made use of comb flowers closely sticking  them so that they look like saree . Make the border using tight coils ( gold and red colours ). Glue the  ball chain to the edge of the saree.
    • Design the  blouse by making small tight coils ( red and gold colour ). Place the tight coils to fill up the blouse space.
    • For the hands use skin colour quilling strips :
Make marquise shapes for the fingers ( using 1/4 th strip each ).
Make a loose coil to fit inside the shape of the hand and palm .
    • For the legs use skin colour quilling strips:
Make marquise shapes for the fingers ( using 1/4 th strip each ).
Make a loose coil to fit inside the shape of the feet.
    • For the Face use skin colour quilling strips:
Make a tight coil to fit the shape. Make a cutout of the face using an ohp        sheet.Draw the facial attributes on an ohp sheet. Glue the sheet onto the tight coil. Make the hairs using black colour quilling strips ( marquise shape ).
    • For the Veena , I have used purple , black and gold colour quilling strips .
For the base make 5 comb shapes ( purple colour ) . Make around 15 tight coils ( gold colour ) to complete the base. Make rectangle shapes using black and gold colour ( half strip ). Place them in an alternate fashion. Decorate the Veena using ball chain and stone line. Attach the strings on the veena.

    Quilling SriChakra

    Hi Friends,

The Sri Chakra is a form of mystical diagram (yantra) used in the Shri Vidya school of Hindu tantra. It consists of nine interlocking triangles that surround a central point. For details refer here .
I have tried to make the Sri Chakra using various quilling designs.
Take a yellow Kg cardboard of desired size. I have used orange , pink , blue , green , red and yellow colour quilling strips.
    The details are explained below:

    • Step 1
Draw the Sri Chakra with the desired dimension.

    • Step 2

Colour the shapes with the different colours of your choice. Make quilling shapes in coordination with the colours.

    • Step 3

Give a black outline to the drawing by placing the black colour  quilling strips ( 3 mm )in a vertical fashion. In the similar way complete all the lines using black colour.

    •  Step 4

For the first triangle use orange colour quilling strip. For the next layer make triangles using pink colour quilling strips. For the third layer use blue colour and for the forth layer green colour quilling strips.

    • Step 5

The next set of triangles is done using red colour quilling strips.

    • Step 6

Fill the empty spaces using yellow colour quilling strips.

Once done the complete Sri Chakra is designed .
    I hope you liked it.
