Quilling Spring Bloosoms

Hello Friends,

This is my entry for participation in IQCG # 72.

This is a 30 inch by 20 inch decorative art piece. As you can see it is made using quilling flowers , leaves , bushes and much more.....
I have used a thermocol sheet and stuck a white kg cardboard on it.
Initially I had a plan to make a garden full of flowers. Then an idea flashed my mind to make something more colourful and beautiful .

  • First I started with flowers. So I made different sizes , different colour flowers . Mainly I focused on comb flowers. You can refer here to make comb flowers.
  • After making the flowers , I just placed them on the sheet to see how it looks.

Kindly note - You can visit my you tube link for making quilling flower

                                    https://youtu.be/1N4rc6g03No

  • As you can see , I have made 7 to 8 varieties of flowers.
  • I found it nice , so I stuck them with a gap between them.
  • Now I had a rough idea of the picture . I drew some bushes and it looked really very beautiful.
  • I have used green colour quilling strips ( light and dark ) to make the bushes and leaves.

  • The bushes are made using simple comb flower. And the leaves with a combination of marquise and tear drop shapes. I have made some special type of leaves which I recently learnt and did. It is looking very unique. I have made around 6 leaves of that type. Refer to the picture.

  • I have made a cute little ladybird. You can place it on the bushes.

  • Flowers without butterflies !!!.  So thought of making some beautiful butterflies .
  • You can select your own colour combination for the lovely butterflies. One butterfly is a combination of  blue and pink . The other is a combination of black and yellow.
  • I have made one sitting on the flower. Have a look .

  • You need to make heart shape for the wings of the butterfly.
  • Now my half sheet was occupied . Rest half what to do ? I was thinking......
  • I thought , why not make some tree branches.
  • I gave an outline with a pencil. Then stuck the quilling  strip( brown colour ) exactly on the pencil mark.
  • I filled up the tree branches with comb shapes. This took a long time.

  • Something was missing here . Yes , the beautiful love birds.
  • I first drew the birds , then quilling.
  • I have used  a combination of blue and light orange for the birds.
  • Take a look .

  • You can cover the branches with some flowers and leaves wherever required.

I finished my complete Quilling Spring blossoms . I was very happy . Till now this is my largest quilling Art work. This took around one month to complete.
I hope you liked my creation.

Quilling Dolls Series - 6

Dear Friends,

This is one more series of Quilling doll . I made this doll for my daughter on her birthday. For doll making , please refer to my earlier posts. The basic parts of the doll are the same. Only the dress differs. I have made a purple skirt with pink border.
For the doll skirt , I have wrapped a pink colour crimped quilling strip.

The princess look for the doll is designed by my daughter. We have put some jewellery like necklace  and some accessories for the doll. I have used white pearls ( different sizes ) for the accessories.
I have used a net cloth ( white ) to make the veil for the doll.

Let me show you one more doll made by my daughter . The doll base is made using quilling .
The dress is designed  using pink linen cloth.

We have decorated the quilling doll using pearl lines.
I hope you all liked our new creation.

Quilling Dolls Series 5 - Panchbhooth

Dear friends,

In this series of quilling dolls , I had a unique theme when I made these quilling dolls , In our vedic system the nature is split into five elements also known as "Panchbooth" , the five elements basically Earth, Water, Fire , Air and Space (Ether) which is also linked to our five senses basically touch (feel) , smell , taste , hear and sight (vision) .

The concept of the five elements or the panchbooth to the the five senses is very interesting , each element has something unique to tell us

  • Earth - This is supposed to be base of  the panchbooth elements , hence you can feel, smell, hear . see and even taste
  • Water - The next level has only four sense attached to it you can feel, hear, see and taste but you can't smell the water
  • Fire - The next level has three senses , you can see , feel and hear but you can't smell or taste
  • Air - The next level has only two senses you feel and hear , you can neither see , smell or taste this element
  • Space - This is the last of panchbooth and you can only hear that

Keeping the significance of the Panchbooth elements from which this creation has evolved and remain within this elements , I decide to show them in quilling dolls , accordingly I created five dolls representing each element

1.Mother Earth

2.Water

3.Fire

4. Air

5. Space

I hope you all liked my creation.

Quilling doll series - 4

Hello friends,

Here comes one more series of quilling dolls. I have made 4 dolls, each one is unique.
You can refer my earlier post for making the parts of the doll.
The face , hands and legs are usually the same pattern as done for my earlier dolls.
Only the dress and hairs differ.

One of the doll has curly hairs. You need to cut small strips and roll it with the needle . Stick each one adjacent to the other.
For another one , I have put two cute ponies . Make a tight coil using a single quilling strip. Make two such coils and stick them on either side of the head. You can choose you own colour combination for the doll dress.
Come on ! Make and show me your quilling doll .
Watch this space for more....
