Quilling Rangoli ( Mandala )

Hello friends ,

Rangoli is an art, origin in India in which patterns are created on the floor  using materials such as coloured rice, coloured rangoli powder or flower petals. It is usually made during festivals.
Rangoli designs can be simple geometric shapes, deity impressions, or flower and petal shapes.
I have made a beautiful Rangoli using Quilling. I have made the design on a white  Kg cardboard.
The concept I have used here is Astha Ganapathi (Eight Ganesha ) design.
In the center of the rangoli , I have made a design using the basic quilling shapes. I have used multi colour quilling strips.
The rest part of the rangoli is covered with the eight Ganeshas ( different colours ). This has also been done using quilling.
Plz note: I have used only 5 mm quilling strips to complete the rangoli.

This Quilling rangoli I made on the occassion of Ganesha Chaturthi. You can use your own creativity and  make your own designs and patterns. Make your own quilling rangoli and please dont forget to share with me.

Quilling Haldi Kumkum Box

Hello friends,

In this post I am showing you something which is very unique and looks just beautiful. As you all must be aware of the traditional kumkum box kept in every house. This  beautiful Haldi Kumkum box which I am showing is made of Quilling. You can make one for your house and use it.

The details are shown below :
  • For the base I have taken a used CD and wrapped a shinning paper around it. You can also decorate the CD with colourful kundans.
  • For the kumkum box I have used red colour quilling paper of 5 mm dimension.
  • For the haldi box I have used yellow colour quilling paper of 5 mm dimension.
Kumkum Box ( Step 1 - 4 ):
  • Make a tight coil using 20 quilling strips.
  • Make a cone shape.
  • Make another cone shape ( little smaller than the first one).
  • Apply fevicol on both sides of the cone.
  • Keep it for dry.
  • The top and the bottom part of the box is ready.
  • Decorate the box with colourful stones and kundans.

Repeat the same for the Haldi box.

Once done you need to stick both the boxes on the CD. The quilling Haldi Kumkum box is ready.

I have made a few boxes for gifting for my friends and loved ones. You can make only the bowl and stick it on the CD and decorate it.

Hope you all liked this creativity of mine.
